One can only plan so much in any architectural photography assignment. There are always elements out of one's control that require managing. Along with the city planners and Glück + Partner Architects, we planned to shoot during the "golden hour" and after the national elections as party candidate placards peppered the entire street. With a promising weather prognosis, I set off on a 2-hour drive with much optimism. Weather can play a significant part in any photographic scene. Of course, the weather took a turn for the worse. I spun the situation on its head and embraced the incoming summer storm. I acted spontaneously and quickly depending on where the sun broke through or when dramatic rain clouds formed, composing the sky and building together to create an atmosphere of theatre and excitement, which conformed well with the work of the volunteers at the Fire and Red Cross Station.
