The overall urban concept creates an identity-forming building pattern that interconnects with the context and establishes references to the urban and landscape space. With a repetitive basic structure in timber construction, differentiated building clusters are formed that ensure good granularity, high permeability and an integrative silhouette. This creates spatial focal points and generous "voids" that can be experienced as a sequence of interconnected open spaces. Some are activated by commercial space, kindergarten, daycare, community spaces, and co-working, while others are used for play, gardening, or as contemplative retreats.
The new buildings embrace the idea of the garden city and are developed as wooden buildings with an arcade typology. The simple basic structure offers a high level of diversity with different apartment types, all of which have generous room layouts and are oriented on at least 2 sides. The existing RWD high-rise will be retained as the primary structure allows for flexible occupancy with studios to large apartments or duplex units. As a well-known landmark and contemporary witness, a piece of the area's history and identity will thus be preserved.
