The 20K House project began in 2004 as an ongoing research project to address the need for affordable housing in rural areas and provide a decent, reasonably sized home ownership option. Each year, the student team designs and builds one home, with the goal of creating a product line of homes that could be replicated by a local contractor. The goal of the 20K House is to provide homeowners with a social and financial asset: a home that will benefit the owner and the community.
