The one-storey building forms the backbone of the church ensemble in Troisdorf, consisting of the church St. Hippolyt and the new town gate. The building nestles up against the property line with its back wall, forming a noise barrier against the busy street and railway trail. On the other side, the building opens up towards the green space that lies in the centre of the ensemble. Each of the three group rooms of the day-care centre has its own playing area outside. The secondary rooms are arranged along the back wall.
Church, day-care centre and town gate are conceived as a unit concerning their design, style and choice of materials, thus creating a quiet town zone – a new attraction for many people.
