Shortlist for New U.S. Embassy in Brasilia Announced

The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations has shortlisted 6 design firms from the 48 firms under consideration in the two-stage selection process for the New U.S. Embassy Compound in Brasilia, Brazil.
Per the OBO, "the shortlisted firms will assemble their technical teams and submit qualifications for the second stage of evaluation." The six firms are:
• Diller, Scofidio + RenfroThe current U.S. Embassy in Brasilia dates to 1961, designed by the U.S. firm of McLeod and Ferrera and carried out during Dwight D. Eisenhower's presidency. Brazil's capital of Brasilia was laid out in the 1950s by Lucia Costa, and it features numerous buildings designed by Oscar Niemeyer as well as landscapes by Roberto Burle Marx, who was responsible for the landscape around the U.S. Embassy building.
