A Dozen Buildings Opening in 2022

As 2021 segues into 2022, World-Architects looks ahead to a dozen notable buildings opening in the new year, including OMA's long-awaited Taipei Performing Arts Center, Herzog & de Meuron's flagship building for the Royal College of Art, and SANAA's Sydney Modern Project.
Winter

The new flagship building at the Royal College of Art's new Battersea campus in London, designed by Herzog & de Meuron following a 2016 competition, was slated to open on January 11, though that opening date has been delayed due to Covid restrictions.

Spring
National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design in Oslo,

Summer
The 2022 Asian Games, featuring a master plan and hybrid buildings

Fall
The renovation and expansion of the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts in Little Rock, Arkansas, designed by

Timing Unknown
The new National Library of Israel Campus, designed by Herzog & de Meuron for a site adjacent to the Knesset in Jerusalem, captured in video in summer 2021 nearing completion, will have its grand opening at some point in 2022. (Video: Albatross)
