In a statement to Il Giornale dell'Architettura Patrik Schumacher, principal at Zaha Hadid Architects, describes Alejandro Aravena's Reporting from the Front as "confusing the general public on the tasks of contemporary architecture" and calls for its closure.
In lieu of Aravena's social concerns, Schumacher calls for architects to focus on "new repertoires, new spatial sensibilities, new aesthetics, and the opportunizing of new technologies" that Parametricism, his preferred method, allows.
Watching the 8-1/2 minute film is like hearing one of Schumacher's Facebook rants: a stream-of-conscious delivery that is full of conviction yet with a narrow focus that is closed off to competing points of view.
