Ridge House II

In close collaboration with a designer that specialises in interior design and joinery, I documented the interiors of a family house that they recently completed. The client's brief outlined two significant points to address: Firstly, to illustrate how the dark-stained oak joinery defines the arrangement of interior spaces through clever planning, and secondly, to deliver a consistent set of images ensuring the colour and tones of the interior fixtures and finishes are accurate.

With the client's wishes in hand, I decided to wait for an overcast winter day to undertake the shoot. This way, soft light naturally illuminated the spaces. And by deliberately avoiding the addition of strobe flash, it was possible to retain a low-contrast yet moody feel to the interiors, complementing the understated style and minimalist material palette.

Neither the subject nor the editing style of these images is overly glamorous. My objective, however, was to convey the designers intent and quality of their work by guiding the viewer through meaningful compositions.
