Oji Timber Head Office "Catalog of Wood"

Oji Timber’s head office is located in Shinkiba, Tokyo’s historic timber industry district. Overlapping screens constructed from the many varieties of wood that Oji deals in mediate the transition from the tumult of the street to the increasingly quiet interior sphere. Viewed through the glass façade, the multi-layered wooden screens look exactly like an enormous catalogue of wood samples. The layout of the panels comprising the façade can be rearranged according to season, alleviating the temperature fluctuations that the radiated heat from the glass walls would normally cause.
