Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA), with Leonhardt Andra und Partner, has been named winner in the competition for a bridge in Taiwan that will be located at the mouth of the Tamsui River near the Taiwan Strait.
We discovered the news via Patrik Schumacher's Facebook feed, where he described that the bridge "will make the northern seashore highway system more comprehensive, saving travel time and delivering economic benefit." Further, the ZHA partner wrote, "Danjiang Bridge with its location at the Tamsui river mouth is destined to make a conspicuous landmark against the backdrop of Tamsui's famous sunset."
The Danjiang Bridge Competition was launched in February 2015. The bridge carries a total construction budget of approximately $250 million USD.
