Formerly limited to spots in Midtown Manhattan, now a 1,000-foot-tall tower, designed by SHoP Architects, is proposed for a small site in Downtown Brooklyn.
The rendering, found at YIMBY, shows the proposed tower along Flatbush Avenue, directly behind the landmark Dime Savings Bank and across the street from the multi-tower, mulit-phase City Point development.
Many of the new buildings in the area are already clustered along Flatbush, but this tower at 340 Flatbush is unique for its slenderness, akin to the towers rising along 57th Street in Manhattan, one of which includes a 1,400-foot-tall tower also designed by SHoP. Both SHoP projects are being developed by JDS.
The proposed Brooklyn tower, if approved, will contain 550 residential units on 90 floors, with an expected completion of 2019.
