ATELIER BRÜCKNER is a leading design office for museums and exhibitions, architecture, Expo pavilions such as the Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo, the Museum of London or the State Museum of Art of Uzbekistan. As general planner we cover all design phases and disciplines – exhibition design / fit out, architecture, scenography, graphics, lighting, media and content. We work in interdisciplinary project teams with 145 designers and architects from diverse design and cultural backgrounds. Following our philosophy 'form follows content' we aim to communicate content in new fascinating ways by generating spatial atmospheres, which take the visitor on a journey along a narrative pathway.
Position Description
ATELIER BRÜCKNER is seeking a Project Manager (m/f/d) or Deputy Project Manager to join our team for a major archeological museum project in Europe at the earliest possible date. This is a classical object driven Museum project with a exhibition size of approx. 15.000sqm featuring more than 300 showcases.
We are looking for a strong and proactive professional with extensive experience in project management, project organization, design development, detailing, and the preparation of tender documentation. The ideal candidate will have proven expertise in coordinating internal and external project partners, managing stakeholder interfaces, and leading the successful realization of complex, object-focused museum projects. Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills are essential.
To strengthen our existing exhibition design team, we are looking for a reliable and experienced individual with a strong enthusiasm for exhibitions and their implementation, combined with excellent English skills (additional foreign languages are an advantage).
Location: Stuttgart, Germany
Start as soon as possible, latest September 2026. The position includes project-related travel to our international project locations.
Responsibilities
- Leading the project regarding project management responsibilities, including client management, project organization, management of the deliverables and project development coordination, coordination of planning packages, internal and external stakeholder coordination, and supervision of the detailed design process from the end of the Schematic Design phase through to the completion of the Detailed Design and Tender Documentation stages.
- Holistic planning of object based exhibition projects, including showcase design, interior fit-out, graphics, lighting and media design, as well as technical integration throughout all project phases
- Interface clairfication with building design team and technical design team
- Experience with Showcase design, and object placement is welcome
- Collaboration within our interdisciplinary project teams (graphics, media, lighting)
- Managing and coordinating cooperation with specialist consultants and clients
- Correspondence with clients and other project stakeholders
- Quality management, including schedule and cost control
Requirements
- Successfully completed university degree in Interior Architecture, Architecture, or Scenography
- Minimum 8 years of professional experience as an exhibition designer on national and international exhibition projects across all project phases is advantageous; project management experience is also beneficial
- Strong design and planning skills, excellent presentation and communication skills in englisch, and solid technical understanding
- Proficiency in Vectorworks (Mac) for 2D and 3D modeling, Adobe Creative Suite, and knowledge for project mangement tools (scheduling, costing)
- Absolutely fluent in English both in writing and speech; basic German skills, additional language skills are an advantage
- Strong strategic project leadership and negotiation skills
- Ability to work effectively within interdisciplinary project teams
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with a structured and reliable working style
- High level of motivation, energy, resilience, and sense of responsibility
- Willingness to travel
