PLOTS 5436, 13478-83

Faraya, Lebanon

The project is located on plots 5436, 13478-83, in Tilal Al-Assal, Kfardebian, near the “Natural Bridge”, a natural stone bridge considered one of the wonders of the region, under which flows the abundant fresh waters of the Nabeh Al-Laban source.

The site extends over approximately 4,400 sqm, with an allowable interior built-up area of around 2,200 sqm. In respect to the exceptional natural setting, an untouched and almost sacred land, the developer made the deliberate and courageous choice not to maximize construction potential. Instead, the project develops only 860 sqm, roughly one-third of the allowable BUA.

The scheme consists of 7 duplex units, each measuring 124 sqm. The interior volumes are designed as elongated rectangular spaces that can fully open to the outside. At the reference level - the ground floor - each unit extends onto a large terrace that acts as a direct continuation of the glazed living space, blurring the boundary between inside and outside. From this primary terrace, the terrain is articulated in two directions: stepping downward in a sequence of plateaus that descend to the riverbank below, and terracing upward to reconnect with the street above.

From above, the construction remains discreet, tucked into the natural slope of the land. From below, the project reveals itself as a composition of stacked terraces, echoing the vernacular agricultural and architectural terraces of Mount Lebanon. This gesture allows the architecture to merge with the landscape, rather than dominate it.
